    IBM Websphere Portal WCM migration

      Hi all,

has anyone undertaken a migration of a site from WCM to date?

If so, how have you approached extraction of data from WCM and import into CQ5/AEM?

We are currently investigating using the WCM api to crawl the sitemap, introspect the nodes and output the content into an XML file/ File Structure. We then plan to transform the content into a set of pages and components into a parsys on those pages.

Just wondering if someone has implemented a more efficient method.

Your approach is quite efficient, if you deal with a smaller amount of content (~ 1GB) and you can shutdown authoring activity for the duration of the migration. If it works for you, go for it! When you have a larger dataset, you need to switch the approach, because then content packages do not work anymore, instead you can use vlt to create a custom importer.
