    Encore 5.1: Fatal error = 6, message = "fatal error", note = "2938496 9101792 11826176"

    Latemare

      Hi everyone,

been trying to create a Bluray .iso-file (I am not trying to burn a Bluray out of Encore) with Encore CS5.1 (as part of Creative Suite 5.5 German for Windows). Exactly 2mins before finish, when the meter says "Building disc image" I get a "fatal error" Code: "6" with a note: "2938496 9101792 11826176".

I have checked a number of forums and googled my way through some potential fixes - but nothing has helped yet (including deleting the Author ScriptHDMV.tmp and Sessions folders).

Encore creates a BDMV folder and writes all the right files at the right place - however just when it says it would build the disc image, Encore freezes.

It seems that all files are written correctly onto the drive but Encore does not create the .iso file.

      Here are some details:

      • I created all files in Premiere Pro 5.5 and/or Aftereffects 5.5
      • I am only using filesnames shorter than 8 characters
      • Source files are pre-rendered H.264 files (1080i) with Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound (separate .ac3 files)
      • Source files are spread across two drives (the largest file being the "main movie" of about 16GB on a folder on C:, rest is on a separate internal drive (G:)
      • Maximum bitrate for videos is 30MB/sec
      • Total BD size according to Encore is 23.9GB
      • Total number of "movies": 16

I have posted the last three lines of the logfile -perhaps this helps. Please see below.

Any suggestions or hints are highly appreciated.

      Cheers

      Martin

How did you encode to DD5.1?

As a test, try a different audio file.  I don't fully understand the log, but it seems that muxing the audio with the video is causing problems.

            Hi Jeff,

            thanks for your note.

I tried something else instead in the meantime and weirdly enough it worked. Not sure why, but here is what I did:

            • Stored all H264 and ac3 files on the same drive
            • Started Encore in Administrator mode
            • Saved the project (again)

Not sure why it worked, but it did. I now have a 24GB .iso file of my project which I have now burned onto a BD-R.

What's strange is that two films do not work (are not played back fully) and that the audio menu (toggle between dolby digital 5.1 and dolby digital stereo) does not work (it did before in another project)...

But that's minor stuff compared to the original issue.

Of all the programs included in CS5.5 Master Collection, Encore IMHO seems by far to be the weakest, most poorly programmed. I cannot remember having so many issues with a single piece of software that I did with Encore.

Even my wife said - "you having issues again with THAT software"?

Adobe - time to do something before I switch to Avid as I don't have the nerves or time for this...

            Cheers

            Martin

Thanks for reporting back.  I'd wager it's running En in Admin mode that did the trick.

Unfortunately, that's been the case for several versions now.
