If images don't appear correctly in browsers, it's likely a bad path. This typically happens when you start working on a project without first Defining a Local Site Folder in DW. Without this first step, DW cannot properly manage assets and links for you.
Or possibly you used the wrong type of image file. Images need to be optimized & Saved for Web as .jpg, .png or .gif files.
I do have a: image/filename.jpg for my images. Files are defined in DW- (all my folders in dreamweaver are green). This is why I was wondering if it was because my site is not yet connected to a server. Not sure what else it could be.
When you try to preview in browser, what is the URL you're seeing in the address bar of your browser? Is it referring to your local copy (file://) or a remote server copy (http://)?
Do you have a 'testing server' defined in your site within DW? If so, what is the testing server path you've given there?
The URl in preview is c:/file// and i have nothing in my server settings, testserver or otherwise. i by passed all of that, set up a root directory, and just started working.
The URl in preview is c:/file//
Did you define a Local Site Folder in DW before you started this project? Without this critical first step, none of your link paths will be correctly pointing to your site folder.
Go to Site > New Site and tell DW where to find files on your local hard drive. See Screenshot.
