    Adobe Director can rule again

    Macnimation Level 1
I've been using Director since year dot... and I agree with some of the comments that Director is far more more powerful than Flash when used to it's potential.
Unfortunately, marketing and hype have made Flash more popular.
I'll tell you what.....if Director 11 provides the option to create AIR applications then it will quickly show how superior it is to Flash

      Cheers

          Hi Macnimation,

I'd also like to see Director gain the status it deserves. It is however highly
unlikely that Director 11 will create AIR applications.

          regards

I was at AdobeMAX in Barcelona, and it was being said that it would be out before Christmas...we'll see.

              Hey guys!

I am a big Director fan myself and have created pretty big applications with it ... I am worried that it will disappear entirely from the market. Do you guys know what's happening to it? I really rely on the product, so I am kind of worried.

As I always say: Director is the truck and Flash is the Ferrari in the truck :-)

              Is Air similar to Director?

              Any answers appreciated!

                Hi Lisa,

Adobe are still working on the next Director so it's not set to disappear just yet.
Keep your eyes out and ears open as we'll be hearing news at some point in the near
future. Adobe have said they will make some announcement by the end of the year.

                > Is Air similar to Director?

Air can create off-line applications. It can do things that Director can. It's not
a replacement for Director and is very different in many ways. Air can handle
Flash, web files and PDF. it does not have plugin support like Director Xtras and
does not have the extensive multimedia support.

                Hope that info is useful.

                regards
