Once you have captured a clip into your project,
you can name it whatever you want (within your project).
Of course, it would make no sense to change the name of the
media file itself... the link to Premiere would obviously be broken.
Also, renaming a media file within your project can make it difficult
to track the original media file on disk if needed.
The 'Comment' column is a much better place for descriptive info.
I don't remember any version of Premiere that did not allow
a clip to be renamed within the project after capture.
Thanks joe, however, most times I'm capturing on the fly and really don't know what to name the clip until after it's captured. I want to name or change a clips name prior to confirming the "Save Captured Clip" dialogue box - so that the link that will be established will be the name I decide on after capture. In other words I want the clip that exists on the drive to be the name I decide on "after" I capture it and prior to choosing yes in the "Save Captured Clip" dialogue box.
Okay, but I would call it a bug because prior to CS6 you could do what I'm requesting. So I was hoping it had been addressed and fixed. Thanks.
Did it when CS6 was released.
