1. Re: OCR'd PDFs lose text when saved as PDF/A
Bill@VT Apr 15, 2013 2:17 PM (in response to basbebe)Before you try to do the PDF/A conversion, check the fonts in your file. Most PDF/A conversions require that the fonts be embedded. I don't know much more, but this might be a hint at the problem.

2. Re: OCR'd PDFs lose text when saved as PDF/A
basbebe Apr 15, 2013 11:27 PM (in response to Bill@VT)I already checked that.
When using OCR, Acrobat embeds a font called "HiddenHorzOCR".
I also figured out that converting to PDF/A-1b IS POSSIBLE and the searchable text is being kept.
But since I want JPEG2000 to work and the PDF/A-2u or PDF/A-2b standard is supposed to give me the same features I don't know why this is causing any problems.

Test Screen Name Apr 15, 2013 11:47 PM (in response to basbebe)Try using preflight to verify compliance and convert to PDF/A. It should give much more detailed diagnostics and an error might be flagged.

basbebe Apr 15, 2013 11:50 PM (in response to Test Screen Name)I already tried with preflight and no error is shown durin this precedure.
The only thing the report shows is that the font "HiddenHorzOCR" (the one Acrobat uses for text created by OCR) is not in the list of the embedded fonts.
But there's no error whatsoever...
