you can assign your htmlText to your smaller textfields in a for-loop or while-loop using their maxScrollV property to ensure no scrolling is needed.

no, your small textfields can be assigned text until they their maxScrollV property exceeds one. then remove text from the end of the small textfield's text property until its maxScrollV property decreases to one AND you have a logical place to break the text at which point you start assigning text to the next small textfield.
I don't see how you can use the same logic on the HTML text part. The properties you mentioned tell me how much of the normal text needs to be copied to the small TextField not the HTML text.
In other words, how do you iterate through the HTML text part.

well, it can be done using the flash string methods and checking the maxScrollV property.
