Im using the Flex Builder 3 B2 Standalone edition with all default settings and I am also experiencing that the URLRequest class lacks this method.
Any from the Adobe Flex team that can provide som insight into this as Google, FlexCoders, etc. has no mentions of this issue...
Are you guys building Adobe AIR apps, or Flex applications?
According to the documentation team, those APIs are AIR-only. I believe the documentation people are working on making the AIR-only properties/methods/classes a bit more "visible" so they stand out a bit better from the rest of the API.
Hope that helps,
Okay, yes I am building a Flex application. So this explains one part of the problem. Is it removed in Flex because of security concerns ? Because URLRequestHeader also forbids to set the particular WWW-Autenticate header.
Ok, that explains it for me too. But since the defaults are ignored for fileuploads Im am curious about how to set the credentials.
Would it be perhaps be possible to pre-authenticate with BASIC auth if you set the "Authorization" header on HTTPService. It seems that the "Authorization" header is not one of the request headers disallowed by flash.net.URLRequest (which is ultimately used by by HTTPService to prepare a request to send over HTTP) so this approach should be technically possible.
Something like this then ?
service.headers.Authorization = "Basic " + credentials;
