See the API documentation for Flex 2 here: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/langref/index.html
XML.load() is an ActionScript 2 class that is now named XMLDocument. There is a new XML class for ActionScript 3.
To load a file use URLLoader.load(). Try converting the data you get from URLLoader to an XML object by using the top-level XML function.
I attached (hopefully) a fairly simple example of Darrell's suggestion below. Basically it just loads an XML document from a remote server (which has a crossdomain.xml file), and displays the XML file contents in a Flex TextArea control.
Of course, there are several other approaches you could also use, such as HTTPService, or loading local XML files using the <mx:XML /> tag. It all depends on what you're trying to do.
For more information on working with XML/ActionScript, check out the Working with XML chapter in the Flex 3 Programming ActionScript 3.0 book.
Hope that helps,
thanks a lot for the quick response plus the example.
