    iPad product catalougue

      Hello all,

I've been asked by a client to produce an interactive product catalougue and I have a few questions.

      1) The catalogue will be 65 pages total. 1 cover page. 1 product type nav page. 9 product nav pages. 54 pages with two image galleries and a scrollable text box. Do you think this will be too large?

      2) Would it be best to distribute this via Newstand or the app store?

      3) How long is the app appplication process? Does anyone have any advice for me that will help my application?

Thanks in advance any advice would be great!

The number one thing you tell the client is that you cannot be held

responsible for an Apple rejection. It can and does happen.

          That out of the way.

          1. No way to tell but I've seen larger.

          2. You can't use newsstand unless you offer subscriptions.

          3. About a week

Hi Bob. Wow, thanks for answering so quickly!

            1) Ok thats cool I'll try optimise all the images and keep the file sizes down. Any optimisation tips?

1.1)What about retina displays how can I get my designs looking good?

            2) Would I be able to share the app to a handfull of people via DPS avoiding the app application process all together?

            3) Only a week I thought it would be a much longer process. If I do apply for the app to be freely distributed on the app store will I need the finished app to apply or just examples? Do you know of a good online guide to applying etc?

            Many thanks again,

            Alex

              1. Nothing you can do. They'll be resampled when you create the folio.

1.1 Use PDF for the graphic format of the folio

              2. Yes

              3. Yes, it would need to be finished.
