Does it matter which Preference sub-menu you select?
It crashes on startup actually i cannot even get into the program, unfortunately i can no longer edit my title.
Ah, well, that changes the game dramtically. Any error messages? Do you see the splash screen or the application window before it crashes?

Thanks for the video. Looks like we may want to try dealing with the preferences manually. This video shows you how: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/
All i have in that folder is a 0byte Adobe Photoshop X64 CS4 Prefs file (psp)
GPUInitCrashed 0 byte
So i removed them even though they do not appear to do anything, launching ps cs4 as administartor didn't help either.
This is just a laptop with an intel t4200 cpu and an intel 965 chipest for the graphics (embedded gpu)
Like i said it was working fine for a long time and now even an uninstall/reinstall won't fix it.
GPUInit crashed means that you have crashed at least once while trying to initialize your video card drivers.
And they're crashing on really simple requests.
Have you recently changed your video card drivers?
Have you updated them from the Intel website?
Installing the old driver from the intel website fixed it thanks Chris Cox!

- I also hid the new driver from windows update.
