The preferences only allow you to automatically call the Auto adjustments–same as clicking on the button.

But, when enabled "apply auto tone adjustments" option in the preferences dialog, if I click the "auto" button on the basic panel (immediately after opening an image in camera raw), I get different results.

Maybe, there is a bug for Windows 7 64-bit ... when the "apply auto tone adjustments" option is active on the preferences dialog, the auto button on the basic panel is also active and I'm always getting slightly different results by pressing it.
