If I were you, I would be busy re-naming the clips
back to the file names so I can spit out a usable edl
and figure out the kinks later... instead of waiting
Instead of re-naming files, I use the 'Comments'
and other columns for scene descriptive information.
Open up the EDL file in e.g. text editor and you'll see that it doesn't contain full paths and actual media files names, but the names of the clips how they look like in the Project panel. With high probability those lucky clips that refer to your original RED footages are ones you just didn't rename...
Thats the issue. I opened the eld file in text edit. The clips that show up in resolve also have been renamed in the session. And in the edl those clips indeed do refer to the original RED clip name.
Just out of curiousity: could you upload the project file so as to see how it is possible to retain original footage names in EDL if they were renamed in the project? No media files needed.
As for the solution, as Joe pointed out, use metadata instead of renaming clips. Yes, that requires some learning, but causes much less issues and provides more flexibility for the long run...
