While there are some complex techniques to accomplish a gradient type Stroke, there is no automated method (unless you count Outer Glows).
Are you looking for the gradient to radiate outward from the center of each individual letter (hard) or gradate across the entire word (easier)?
yeah im not sure.. i do text graphics in PSE10 and i normally ad a stroke as "outline" but instead of the solid color, i want to add a gradient. and the stroke is on the outside of each lettering
okay the above is the title for my blog(one of them).. okay so the dark pink around the edges of the text is the stroke in dark pink.. now earlier today I needed to do a text and i wanted the stroke to be a gradient instead of a solid color.. i know how to fill the text with a gradient..
does this make sense now??

Something like this might work for you:
1. Ctrl or Cmd click on layer thumbnail in the layers panel with the text.
That makes a selection of the text
2. Add a new blank layer below the text layer and go to Edit>Stroke (Outline) Selection and choose Center and the size.
4. Go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient and check Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask
5. In the Gradient Fill dialog you can experiment with different gradients and settings.
Yes thankyou!! thank you!! yes that's exactly what i meant. awesome. i will try this tonight..
