Here is a very simple mail form with uses input and send mail. This might give you a little idea.
Hope some others will contribute to this post for further help.
redesign- I love you!!!!
I haven't gotten into working with database info yet but I know I'll be crossing that road soon (after all, most of what I do deals with databases interaction!)
Using your email send example, I was able to take the information and send it to a database within 2 minutes!
I don't know about adding this to an onclick action (I said I was learning) but by simply changing the "mailto" line in the "location" line , I was able to send the info directly to a scripted page (Whatever flavor you choose: PHP, ruby, etc... I use Lasso):
location = "http://yoursite.com//edge_db_test_page.lasso?subject="+topicInfo + "&body=" + emailInfo + "&messageInfo= messageInfo;
I'm sure many already know and do this but to me it was a "holly cow" moment!! - I didn't plan on getting to trying this yet and the fact that, even with my limited knowledge, the code redisign used is self explainatory, at least to me!
Now I need to figure how to make it a two way street and send info back to the Edge animation and I'll be all set!!!
I am glad this sample helped you. I think you could use the jquery get() to accomplish that. See API here:
I do not have a way to test it but I will look into how to implement it in Edge. Actually that would be a great exercise for me. I may need that in the future to communicate with our Curriculum system.
