Slideshow transitions speeds and slide duration

    DerekDigital Community Member

Yet again I'm updating a site created in a previous version of Muse and run into problems. Can anyone enlighten me?

The site - www.edinburghblue.co.uk - contains two slideshows. One contains the site background images and the second contains rotating text information.

In the original Muse site both slideshows had a Transition Speed of 0.5 seconds and the image duration was set to 5 seconds. Both slideshow changed in sync.

Since opening and updating the site in Muse v4.1 Build 8 - this morning - the slideshows are now out of sync. I've been phaffing around with the settings but the bottomline is that the site doesn't look as slick as it once did.

Has anyone encountered the same issue? If yes, how did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

            Thanks for the compliment Malcolm.

On the face of it the slides do look in sync but for me there's almost a half second delay between the two shows.

In the previous version of the site the background image changed at exactly the same time as the text.

If you look closely there now appears to be a slight delay.

I'm aware that Adobe provided us with more controls over slideshow transitions, which was most welcome.

I just wondered if there were any guidelines anywhere on how to use them.

It may be a case that different bandwidths are causing this slight outage - but that's me speaking off the top of my head!

I'll muck around with the settings a bit more and see if I can achieve the same effect as the site once had.

I think you're being a bit picky It looks exactly the same to me

I guess I am being picky Malcolm.

However I've discovered that when the two slideshows are out wildly out-of-sync, which can happen, then a quick browser refresh resolves the problem.

I certainly didn't need to do that with this site when it was originally built in Adobe Muse 1.0 and updated in v3.x

Fingers-crossed the next version of Muse will iron out any slideshow bugs introduced in v4.x

Hey neat micro-site there. I think I know what's the issue here..
The first time I visited the site, the two slideshows are indeed wildly out-of-sync. But when I decided to go back and view it again, they are at most .2s off sync.
I believe this is due to the time needed to load the larger slideshow (back images) vs the smaller slideshow (text).

Therefore, during my first visit, the image slideshow took a while to load and begin, thus off-syncing the two.

I'm afraid I can't introduce any solution to this, as the download speed varies greatly from place to place.
Nonetheless, I think the site looks pretty good even when it's off-synced.

Hi. Thanks for the response and the feedback - both very much appreciated.

Since my original post we've had several updates of Muse and the slideshow timing issue seems to have resolved itself.

In addition I've changed the smaller slideshow to a Muse "Composition" widget to make the editing of text more productive.

This also appears to have eliminated many of the glitches I was experiencing a year ago.
