How do I create a master fade-in/fade-out for a sequence?

      I'm totally new to Premiere...

In Final Cut 7 I can take an entire sequence and create a "nest" out of it, where it becomes a single editable object in the timeline. I can than apply a fade-in to the entire sequence, even if there are multiple clips with transparency right off the top. I can also apply a "broadcast safe" video effect to make sure my video levels are all legal. How do I something similar in Premiere?

      Thanks!
