Can't get .ase file to load/open in CS6 on PC

Hi,  I teach an intro class to college freshmen that uses Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 on a PC. When I tried to show them how to save their custom color palettes as .ase files and then to load them into either a new document in AI or into PS, the file was not visible as an option to load. We had saved the .ase files to the desktop. Any ideas? Thank you!

          Hi RKCSI,

          Might try this,

          • In Photoshop CS6, open the Swatches panel (Window > Swatches)
          • In the Swatches panel open the flyout menu from the panel itself in the top right-hand corner choose Load Swatches
          • In the Load window at the bottom is an option for loading changing the file type and .ase shows are one of the types for me

I was going through the workflow on a Windows 7 system when writing this but I suspect the process should be similar on Mac or in Illustrator
