Visual c++ assertion error with Adobe Digital Editions 2.00

My computer has windows 7. I have a Laser EB850 e-reader and have susccessfully installed and used ADE to borrow books from my library and then copy them over to my e-reader which has worked successfully.  Suddenly I find that when I try to connect my e-reader via USB to my computer I get a Visual C++ assertion error and am unable to access my e-reader through ADE. Why has this all of a sudden happened and how can I fix itClipboard01.jpg
