and tried Ctrl-clicking on Bridge CS6
Do you mean hold down control while starting Bridge CS6 and choose reset preferences?
From the control click I presume you are on windows?, can you be more specific?
Some users experience File Association problems if they uninstall CS5 after they have installed CS6. Does this fit your situation?
Don't think PSE8 will have an effect. That is an old program, but believe the old PSE program that had a conflict with PS was older than than that, and it was not a file association problem.
Thanks for the replies. I was able to sort this myself after I watched the the following video on how to reset the Adobe preferences: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/ I did the manual reset where I moved only the preference file to another location e.g. the Desktop. I restarted my computer. Closed Bridge CS5 that was running in the background and then clicked on Bridge CS6 and the program opened. I decided to take a chance to see if this won't fix it and was elated when it worked. Don't ask my why, but it did the job!
