What should I use so that my gopro footage is the best quality it can be in premiere pro?

I have compressor and and gopro cineform studio, I have never used gopro footage before but my friend has asked me to help with a project. I'm a film student and I'm more on the producing end, editing isn't really my speciality so I'm really new to this. I have no idea what format/codec to use so that the footage is the best it can possibly be for editing in premiere pro CS6. I tried putting it into prores with compressor and it just looked to be a bit pixcelated in playback and I only have a small screen. Any help/advice?
