    Crop/Rescale Video Frame

    Lauren Lu

How do I crop/cut-out/zoom-in in Adobe Premiere Elements 11? I have a lot of extra background space in a video I recently shot and would like to crop some of this background out.

      Thank you!

For Crop. Please see Effects Tab at bottom of Expert view interface/Advanced Adjustments/Transform/Crop. After you drag the Crop Effect into the clip, for the highlighted clip, go to Applied Effects/Applied Effects Palette, and Crop Panel. Expand the Crop Panel to reveal its settings. Adjust settings, including with and without use of Zoom option.

For Zoom In and Out, check out that Applied Effects Tab to right of interface, Applied Effects Palette/Motion/Scale.

Effects applied are to the entire clip. If you want to change an effect over the duration of the clip, you can keyframe the effect (scale, position, opacity, other...). So, do look into keyframing in Premiere Elements.

          Thanks.
