I created a newsletter on the Windows XP platform using InDesign CS4. The newsletter was fine, and I "packaged" it with all the fonts. I then upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit). Now, when I open the same newsletter, Adobe tells me Arial Black is missing. But it's right there in the Font folder, and when I try to reinstall it in Windows, just to see what happens, Windows says it's already there.
If this helps, when I select the font in the newsletter, it is listed in InDesign within brackets, like so: [Arial Black]. What gives? And how do I fix it?
Try following solutions:
Probably a newer version on Windows 7.
I checked out those links-- the first one didn't seem to apply, but the second one was indirectly helpful in that it kept me thinking about it-- "Arial Black" was apparently on my XP system as a stand-alone font. In Windows 7, that was apparently replaced with a "Black" variant of Arial. So I replaced Arial Black with Arial/Black, and we're good!
