I need to rectify or flatten images of the wall of a drill hole taken at 60 degrees and 47 degrees from the horizontal? I need to analyze the distribution of sulfate veins in the walls of the drill hole made by the curiosity rover on Mars. Thanks, Horton, MSL science team member.
Doesn't NASA have their own super-sophisticated "Enhance!" apps? Not sure how far Camera RAW's lens distortion removal can take you. Other than that I know a couple of video-tools like ProDAD DeFishr that deal with these extreme fisheye lense thingies. Otehrwise perhaps a morphing software might be unable to unwarp your image based on reference points or contours...
Hi Mylenium - I think you are right about adding some control points and then using the morphing tools. I thought there might be some app. or add in for this. Note - that for NASA, this kind of issue for the scientists falls at the bottom of the funding priorities!
