1) Paste a copy of the URL in your IDD.
2) Select the URL and then Text/Hyperlink & Cross-References/New Hyperlink from URL
See if that works.
Have used an exisiting Rectangle with mega-long URL in it but where is this "Text/Hyperlink & Cross-References/New Hyperlink from URL" which you speak ok? I'm right-clicking but not getting this option, is it in a toolbar?
Cheers for the rapid response mate!!
This is a bug. The best workaround is to use the script posted by Laubender in my link above.
I see it is a bug and I'll fill out a form in due course to add some weight to the other submissions.
I did Type toolbar then Text/Hyperlink........ the New Hyperlink from URL is greyed out. What have I missed?
You need to select the URL inside the rectangle, not the rectangle. Then on your main menu at the top of your screen choose Text/Hyperlink & Cross-References/New Hyperlink from URL.
Did you try the script? New Hyperlink from URL is not going to solve the problem.
And where/when/how do I run that script?
Follow the steps I gave you. It works at my end. I think the trick here is that you work around the bug creating the hyperlink from your typed URL. Remember you have to highlight it in order to active it New Hyperlink from URL.
To run the script you need to copy the script and paste into a plain text editor, then save with a .jsx extension and place into your Scripts panel folder (see http://indesignsecrets.com/how-to-install-scripts-in-indesign.php). You run it by double-clicking the name of the script in the panel.
Good Evening Gents & Thanks for your replies.
Peter, I've run your script - , Exported as PDF (Interactive) and.....hmmm, ok.
Removing all Hyperlinks...
Drink tea......ERR: "Biscuits" value is NULL. GOTO your local store.
Adding full length Hyperlinks to rectangles....
Export > Interactive PDF....
Open.....by Jove I think he's got it!
We are at full length Hyperlinks!! Thanks so much and I really hope this helps others. Will submit my bug report, fingers crossed for that.
Thanks to both of you for your input, and patience.
Have a fantastic week,
It's Uwe Laubender's script, not mine. Thank him.
