    AVI Files

    vpro@bluemail.ch

      Hello Bil

I am "usual user" and not IT specialist. Probably I have done bad buy with Adobe pse - just before I have used Pinacle program, I haven't had any problem with AVI files.

Even when I give by the the file options: to be open with pre, it does not work. By the way, my videos comes from Canon camera, a common product.

How can I send you a copy of one file to find out which Codec I have to use?

To solve this problem, probably I have to comunicate direct with Adobe support.

      Many thank's and best regards

          Vladimir,

It would be easier for you to download, install and use either G-Spot, or MediaInfo, to determine the CODEC. The links to each, plus a lot more detail, are in this FAQ Entry: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0

Since the AVI file came from a Canon camera, I will guess that it contains the MJPEG CODEC, but the file info utilities will confirm that.

If the CODEC is MJPEG, then I would install the Canon utilities (even if you do not plan on using them), that came on the CD/DVD with the camera. That should install Canon's specific version of the MJPEG CODEC. As I have three cameras in the family, that do shoot MJPEG (all are basically stills cameras, that also shoot motion), a Canon G-10, a Lumix and a Nikon, I have each camera's MJPEG CODEC installed, and they work perfectly.

Good luck, and please let us know more about the AVI file(s),
