Unable to use flash player 11.

I inadvertently uninstalled my 'plugin' when uninstalling an older version of 'flash player' prior to downloading version 11 of flash player.  After downloading the latest player I am still NOT ABLE to play most videos.  I keep getting a message stating I need the latest version of flash player.
