Hi, I'd really like to know if anyone can advise a solution fro the following...
I would lik eto be able to place an ai file and have the swatches/colours used in the ai file added to my swatched in indesign - is there a way to do this, instead of having to write down the cmyk values by opeing up the ai file in illustrator, then add the one by one by creating new swatches?
it'd be useful for example when creating a business card, i place the clients logo, then liek to match up text to the logos colour.
You can use this trick to get the swatches into ID: Define them temporarily as spot colors in AI. ID will import any spot colors in the file when it's placed, and you can redfine them as process in ID or use Ink Manager to convert them to process. Once imported, you can Edit Original and redefine the spots as process if you like. The swatches won't disappear.
Peter, Thank you for taking time to share your wisdom - i've just run through the process you suggested, which is a workable solution that I'll be using again and again.
