I have tried to set up data merge in InDesign, but I have come up with an apparently insurmountable problem arising from my layout. InDesign will either put one instance of each record on each page, or multiple instances of the same record on each page. It will not put several different records onto one page. The layout has 3 different records per page on 3 different labels (a different name and address on each label). I would like it to take the records in sequence from my csv file, fill up the 3 placeholders on the page, and go on to create more pages which are filled with the subsequent records in the sequence. Is this possible?
A couple of screenshots would add a layer of clarity here.
To do a multiple records per page merge you use only one set of placeholders, in the upper left position. ID will duplicate everything as many times as will fit according to the spacing you set up in the merge options.
Hi. Thanks Peter. I have tried it and it seems to solve the problem. Much appreciated.
