1. Re: just did a reinstall -same problem:rulers don't match....why?
station_two May 17, 2013 4:42 PM (in response to Marie Maier)Either you have the wrong pixel aspect ratio selected in Photoshop or your monitor's geometry adjustments are all out of whack.
However, you give no useful information for anyone to help you.

2. Re: just did a reinstall -same problem:rulers don't match....why?
Marie Maier May 18, 2013 8:47 AM (in response to station_two)I don't know what else to give you when I've never experienced this problem before. Monitor res is 1280 x1024 and I like 150 res for color printing.
I asked about the ruler unequality on every Adobe ps area I could and always rec'd a nothing on that topic available.
I asked for "pixel aspect" and got lots of individual, underlined words and nothing else.
I'd appreciate assistance with dealing with this so I could have just one 4 x 4 circular base to use for 60 pics that would not be a fat egg as Info guides the dimensions.
Adobe reps couldn't fix this and suggested a new download would. Wish they were right....

the_wine_snob May 18, 2013 11:08 AM (in response to Marie Maier)Marie,
Please refer to my reply on Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR), in your other thread.
To insure that it is either a PAR issue, or not, with your problem Image Open, go to Image>Pixel Aspect Ratio (down a bit in the drop-down), and let us know what that tells you about the PAR of the Image.
Good luck,
Hunt

Well, then you may want to read the link I provided above for next time:

6. Re: just did a reinstall -same problem:rulers don't match....why?
the_wine_snob May 18, 2013 12:19 PM (in response to station_two)Ah, like the non-square pixel PDF's, I have learned something else new!
Also, below "Square," the other options are all Video-related, in that list.
Since I do most of my light-weight Image editing, like the DVD/BD Menus, on this old laptop, I have not spent all that much time with PS CS 6, so still hunt-n-peck with it.
Thanks,
Hunt

On further reflexion, I believe those were scans created by VueScan on the Mac and saved as TIFFs or PDFs.

station_two May 18, 2013 12:57 PM (in response to the_wine_snob)A search of old correspondence with the developer of VueScan has just refreshed my mind as to the exact nature of those documents:
…how to prevent certain VueScan files—mostly b&w and Text files—from opening in Photoshop with the wrong pixel aspect ratio?
…it’s a trivial matter to fix them in Photoshop by going to the View menu > Pixel Aspect Ratio > Square…His response was that he had never heard of the issue and could not explain why it was happening.
As it was such a minor problem, I just dropped it.
