I have a need to record lengthy internet video streams and clip sections out for use in news broadcasts. Timing is of the essence so If I were to take a full-screen feed of the stream and feed it into the HDMI in of an AJA Kona would I then be able to import the file while it's still recording to edit in a PC based Premiere system? I'm aware that Premiere can import growing files but I'm scratching my head working out which capture card will give me a file I can use.
Thanks Jim, I'd already looked at that page and saw the supported codecs. I was hoping that someone here may have had experience of what I am looking to achieve and could help with regard to the hardware side.
Use the Motion Jpeg and you will be fine. The Intensity Pro is the most commonly used card for this. You can also use screen capturing software such as Fraps but you have to be careful what codecs and resolutions you choose.
