Hoping someone can tell me what I should download to get
started in my Flex evaluation. I have a java/jsp web app running in
Tomcat on a Windows platform. It accesses a MySQL database. It also
generates charts. I use Eclipse IDE. I want to create the same web
app in Flex with all the same technologies behind the Flex app,
i.e., Eclipse IDE, Tomcat web server, MySQL database on Windows.
Question is, "Is this possible?". If so what do I need to
download from this Adobe site to get going?
Yeah, from what I've been reading, Flex has the ability to
access all manner of server-side objects, and has very good support
for interfacing with Java. I'd recommend getting the Flex Builder
plugin for Eclipse--it installed very smoothly with my Eclipse
You pretty much just need Flex Builder to get started. Of
course, you don't have to use it.
It sounds very possible to me! The Flex Builder 2 Plug-in is
for Eclipse. It even has a 30 day trial. Just install it and point
it at your eclipse install and you should be up and running. Once
there, check out the charting components of Flex, they might be
right up your alley.
