Since downloading and installing are un-separateable from the Premiere Elements experience (Windows and Mac) and the Premiere Elements Forum here is populated with Windows and Mac users who would be expected to have gone through that experience, I feel the Premiere Elements Forum is an appropriate and an expected place to seek help.
I am strictly an Elements Windows user. But, I would like to start the train of thought moving to get you moving in your Premiere Elements Mac download, installation, on program use.
So, I would ask...
a. In the first pass at download/install, you talk about reaching messages about 30 days remaining/buy. That suggests to me that the download was completed and you just needed to tackle the install part. So, in your trashing before you did your second download, did you include any downloaded program files besides the Adobe Download Assistant in the trashing process? What I am wondering is was another download necessary? Are there installation files still on your computer from the initial download?

It sometimes can take a while.
I usually download in the morning when the US is still sleeping.
After you have downloaded and installed the download assistent, download for E11 will automaticly begin.
Create a special folder just for the assistent and E11.
