Flashplayer won't work on IE, but does on Mozilla

I have two browsers IE and Mozilla. When Flash is required on Mozilla it works, but it will not work when required on IE. When on IE Flash keeps asking to download updates..I do, and they say error, need to update! This goes on and on.  I just got an email, to open requires flash to open...says I need update. I'm just not going through this downloading anymore, as it doesn't work...even though it says I have Flash?????
