5/31/2013. Deleted the CPD file. Same problem occurs. Crash on first edit.
I assume you can successfully edit a topic in one of the supplied sample projects?
I haven't tried editing a topic in a sample project because after the first crash of the day, I can edit my project without any further problems. However, I can try that on Monday. I don't think it's worth trying to day since the problem goes away after the crash.
Today I experimented with deleting the CPD. On Monday I'll try editing a topic other than the master page, and/or in a sample project, before editing the master page (in case there's something wrong in the master page).
After I deleted the CPD and opened my project (from Source Control), I got another error: "...while trying to save data to ....rhscreens.apj"! I shut everything done without responding to the error, copied the original 4/1/2013 CPD back to the folder, and opened the project without any difficulties.
Also, this problem has only occurred since we upgraded RH9 to RH10.
Here I was thinking that the upgrade was going soooo well .
I was able to edit a topic without a crash. As soon as I tried to change the date on the master page, RH crashed with the unhandled win32 error. I assume that the master page is corrupt and I should re-create it.
Yesterday I edited the master page in HTML mode without a problem. Today I edited a different topic and then attempted to change the date on the master page in Design mode --- RH crashed.
Since this only happens when I attempt to edit the date, in Design mode, in the table on the master page the first time that I open RoboHelp, it may be best to try recreating the table. However, I'm pasting the code here in case any of you gurus can see at a glance something corrupt or bogus in the table section. The area I've trying to edit is in bold.

I've cut and pasted that code into a new master page and can edit it at will. It must be a problem with the old file you are using. Recreating it should do the trick.
Thanks very much. I'll create a new master page tonight and try to use it first thing tomorrow.
I created a new master page and copied the HTML code from the old page into the new page. Same problem. I open RoboHelp, click in the Update field error, start to type the new date, and RH crashes.
RH did not crash the other day when I edited the date in the HTML code, and it never crashes if I’ve edited another topic first! Fortunately this is not a showstopper, but it is most surely annoying. I didn’t have this problem until I upgraded to RH10 from RH9.
I would not have copied the existing code. I have completely recreated the master page from scratch. If the problem is with a corrupt file, there is a liklihood that copyiny the code copies the corruption.
I'm a little confused. Your reply on June 6 said that you "cut and pasted the code" into a new master page, which is why I copied and pasted the code into a new page. However, I will try creating a page from scratch now.
Update June 14, 2013.
I upgraded to 10.0.1.292 this week. This morning I edited the date on the master page without a problem, and without creating a new master page from scratch.
