    writeMultiByte and "unicode"

i try to send a String to a socket as utf-16. I think, that the function writeMultiByte() of the IDataOutput Interface, implemented by the Socket class, is the right class. I use it with the 2nd parameter charSet = "unicode" or "unicodeFFFE" as descriebed in the language reference. But if i sniff the data that have been sent over the ethernet, i find only ASCII or perhaps (i don't no exactly) UTF-8. Is the method not fully implemented and will it be?
