What are you setting for the project.preset in the New Project Dialog? And, what are the properties of your source media? How much is on the Timeline (duration and content) when the crash occurs, and is the crash associated with a particular action that you are taking in the project?
Is the issue that you are now presenting
a. it never worked
or
b. it worked before but not now
What happens if you start a new project?
Is your computer optimized...installed vs available RAM, free hard drive space (derived solely from Local DisK C or are other internal and external drives being used)? Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free space is there at the save location for them?
Have you checked for preview files and conformed audio files piling up in the Adobe Folder?
Have you cleaned out the conformed video. (See Edit Menu/Preferences/Media)
Have you done a regular and registry cleaning of the computer with ccleaner?

Let us start here and then decide what next if necessary.
Remember, the answers will be in the details.
Thanks.
