I wanted to prepare University materials for students using InDesign and I wanted it to change layout depending on device orientation — just like you can do with Apple iBooks. I know about DPS but it cost a lot of £££ and since I'm not going to make money on it there is no point for me to spend this amount not to mention that you cannot select text or make any notes, like in iBooks Author.
I tried Alternative Layouts but when I export it, it is just adding layouts one after another and is not changing anything. In all videos all evangelists are talking how cool it is that content is changing positions depending on device orientation but I can't see how to do it…
I'm using InDesign CS6.
That isn't something that you can do with PDF. You're seeing DPS demos.
BTW, DPS Single Edition apps are free of charge with a Creative Cloud account.
And BTW, there is nothing exciting about having the orientation change. In fact, many people find it quite annoying.
If you check around you'll see that many major publications only publish in one orientation.
