1st, more computer information might help... such as the Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/message/4200840 questions

2nd, some other software to try... to see if the problem is with your computer, or CS6

I have NOT used either, but many say to try these for SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/

            .

I have NOT used it, but many say to try this for HDV capture http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm

              Hi Bob,

#1 thing is to NOT capture to the C: drive, should always have a fast, dedicated drive, for instance internal 7200rpm SATA.

I've been capturing DV for 15 years and HDV for 5-6 and have never had "dropped frames". I've had glitches in the tape which would show up in the capture, and if using "Scene Detect" would trigger a new clip, but that is different than a dropped frame warning which means that for whatever reason, the PC can't keep up with recording the data.

Is your drive getting close to full, or fragmented perhaps? Anti-virus software hogging resources?

Please let us know as much as possible about your computer hardware config, and be more specific about the nature of the problem. Do you get an error message? What exactly happens?

              Thank you

                Jeff:

Thanks for your feedback.   I think I just solved the problem.   Yes.  I am capturing to a second internal harddrive.   But in the test I ran this morning, after setting up the capture for DVHDef I saw on the capture screen a button labeled “tape.”   Previously I hit the play arrow and the red record button.   Using this procedure the capture images appeared on the computer screen, and about every 40 seconds would go dark and reappear, leaving red frames on the capture.   But this morning I hit the “Tape” button.  WOW  Premiere started the capture but the images only appeared on the camera screen.   That’s very good.  Because in Premiere 5.5 you get a message on the computer monitor that the image will only appear on the camera, not the computer.  I did a 20 minute capture with no red frames.  As usual, operator error.

                Thanks for your quick input.
