The way to do that would be to apply "No Language" to the first line of
a paragraph, but you don't need a script to do that.
Add a "line style" to your paragraph style, and get it to apply a
character style whose only attribute is "No Language" to the first line.
That should do the trick in most cases.
I'm trying it as we speak and it doesn't work on some paragraphs
Does this help?
app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem().paragraphs.everyItem().lines.words.appliedLan guage = "[No Language]";
What happens does it still leave some first lines hyphenated?
I probably should've mentioned that I have a pretty BASIC knowledge of scripts, meaning, I know only how to install them
Just copy and paste the one line script onto a new text document document and save it with a .jsx suffix and then you can "install" it
I did that and it still leaves some lines hyphenated.
If you can save a little bit of your document with a problematic paragraph in it and the put it on google doc / drop box and the like and post a link then I can see if I can get it to work
