Are you on a Mac and have a perpetual license (non-subscription) to CS6? Otherwise the update is not applicable.
If you are indeed on a Mac and do have a perpetual license (non-subscription) to CS6, there are two things to watch out for:
1.— Some necessary file(s) may have been deleted. If that is the case, using the Adobe Uninstaller go ahead and uninstall Photoshop, then run the CS Cleaner Tool (downloadable from Adobe) and Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility.
2.— Make sure you don't have an expired trial version installed on your disk. If you do, apply the steps in #1 to said trial install.

Error log file location: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers
appearing in my web browser.
Did you try the suggestions in post #1?

Language files removed. That was the source of my problem. I haven't figured out yet whether I need to reinstall or whether the updated source files are there, but just not showing up in Finder.
