1. Re: Why does one of my levels disappear?
Mike Gondek2 Jun 5, 2013 11:43 AM (in response to Rodieck)The meatball(AKA: layer target button), tells you that you have items selected on that layer. You can click on that target, to select entire layers also, or drags them meatball to another layer (very useful)
As far as the item disapearing, I believe that is due to a blending mode, such as hard light or soft light.
You may have accidentally applied a blending mode to the entire layer, to fix
- Click on meatball for the offending layer
- Change blending mode to normal
Your appearance palette would look like this if you had that problem.
Does this icon really look like a meatball, or did you pick that up from Deke McCelland? Atleast Deke gave this a better name.

Rodieck Jun 6, 2013 10:06 AM (in response to Mike Gondek2)That was it exactly, Mike! Thanks so much.
And thanks for giving me layer target button; I didn't know what it was really called, so I couldn't look it up in a help manual. Yes, meatball came directly from Deke's tutorials on lynda.com.; that's where I've learned what (little) I know about Illustrator.

Mike Gondek2 Jun 6, 2013 1:44 PM (in response to Rodieck)Glad to help, thanks for replying.
I figured as much on the meatball, as I never hear anyone use that except after a Deke video.
