    Thumbnail generation on the fly

    Level 7
looking for a solution for a customer of mine... They are not very in tune
with how to resize images and such and dont understand pixels and file sizes
      and such....

So what i have done is created a family site for them so they can post
upcoming events and such.. including pictures. Everything is fine, with the
exception of them not having any software to resize there pictures to create
      there own thumbnails...

So what im looking for is a simple, possibly free, solution to allow her to
upload the image itself, and then the thumbnail gets generated from that 1
      file.

I have found plenty of extensions available but most of them are out of
their budget... I was looking for either a how-to to accomplish this
manually or a good, inexpensive solution..

      Any suggestions would be great.

Are you using PHP? It's a snap to do it with that. It's also doable with
ASP, but it's a much longer 'snap'.

              If using PHP try http://www.plus2net.com/php_tutorial/php_thumbnail.php

I use it in my shopping cart to auto-generate the thumbs.

But does it generate thumnails server side? I don't think it does.

                  Sorry for the late reply...

Currently using Access DB and ASP pages. Are there any how-to's for ASP?

                  Thanks for the replies.

I'd suggest you just Google "thumbnail asp access"
