1. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
Curt Y Jun 9, 2013 6:15 PM (in response to ageless1)Camera raw problems are usually 1 of 3 issues. You have incorrect ACR file, you have ACR file in wrong folder, or you have more than one ACR file in folder.
What does it do or not do? Supply PS version and ACR version (help/about plugin/camera raw)
Also, do you have latest PS? Help/update

2. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
ageless1 Jun 9, 2013 6:23 PM (in response to Curt Y)When I browse my photos in bridge (.cr2 files), normally I right click and select open in CR. That option no longer appears and when I try to open them directly from PS it gives me a message "Could not complete your request as it is not the right kind of document.".
When I try to access the Camera Raw preferences I am told that Camera Raw is not installed. Re-installed PS within the last two hours so it should be up to date.

3. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
Curt Y Jun 9, 2013 6:26 PM (in response to ageless1)If you want help you need to follow instructions. A re-install does not give latest version. You have not said what camera you own, or verify what ACR you have.

Curt Y Jun 9, 2013 7:01 PM (in response to ageless1)OK, look in announcement above and click on #2 ACR 7.4. It will give you the download link.
After download try about plugin again and see if camera raw added. If so click and see if it says 7.4

ageless1 Jun 9, 2013 7:20 PM (in response to Curt Y)No, I am on a pc but that link doesnt appear anywhere else on the page. Thanks for all your help, I do appreciate it but sadly the download link on that page for CR says to use the in-photoshop update function which I dont have. There is a link for the DNG convertor which I already have installed but not for CR.

19. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
Curt Y Jun 9, 2013 7:40 PM (in response to ageless1)That would indicate you have ACR 7.4 downloaded but computer does not see it.
Look here C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
Follow this address exactly.
You should have Camerar Raw there, is is an .8bi file.

Have quite for night. But if program files not on C drive that could cause major problems depending on how you install it. Default install is definately the prefered way to go or progam can no find all the pieces.

23. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
ageless1 Jun 9, 2013 8:01 PM (in response to Curt Y)No, I have been using Photoshop for many years and my Program files have always been on a drive other than my C drive and I've never had a problem before so that is not the cause.

24. Re: Camera Raw is Missing
ageless1 Jun 9, 2013 8:07 PM (in response to conroy)Thanks Conroy. That fixed it.
Curt, thanks so much for your time and effort, the problem is now solved thanks to a direct download of CR.

Well, you've jinxed yourself, then.
Wether on the Mac or on Windows, Adobe applications want to reside on your boot volume. I agree with Curt Y that having the program files on a different drive can and will confuse Adobe installers and updaters—among other things.
Perhaps it shouldn't be the case, but in fact it is.
Keep in mind that the members of the installer and updater teams—at Adobe they're separate, independent and isolated teams—appear to be recruited from the same slums in India from which Adobe recruits their customer service staff. Even within Adobe, engineers and managers sometimes blurt out in public their sentiments about what they would like to do to the installer and updater team member's necks.
The installer and updaters have not improved in recent years, quite the opposite: their quality and performance have been on a steady decline.
Just my ¢2.
