I'm not sure if we actually need "bones", but some constraint (other than just parenting) and an associated IK solver would be nice. A lot of it can be created with expressions, of course, but aside from not everyone knowing code, it causes performance issues or requires complicated structures... And of course simply things such as looping animation without requiring expressions or time-remapping should also come to pass...
> For instance character 2D bone rigging tools would be really helpful.
Check out DUIK and other utilities described in the resources linked to from here:
> I would like something which works visually like other animation programs and not have to script myself
Check out iExpressions:
Thanks, yes I agree and I find writing expressions too hard and don't understand the language. I think also it does cause performance issues and sometimes AE works quite slowly. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks very much Todd, I have already got DUIK which I got a few months ago and did the tutorial, it is brilliant. I have not tested it out yet apart from doing the tutorial. I am doing quite a big animation so I am not sure how memory intensive it is. It works so well and is exactly what I am looking for so I am quite excited about using it. I think the puppet tool in AE is quite limited but again I have bought Puppet Tools from the site you mentioned a while ago but not tested it yet. Also bought Auto Lip Sync which is brilliant as well but it has limitations if you want more control over mouth shapes.
I would really like to see a bone rigging system in AE, think that would be good like Anime which is very intuitive - where you draw the bones on the character.
Thanks very much I will submit feature requests on your link, thanks for sending.
