    Annotating or animating freeze frames

    raman108 Community Member

Hi, I am using Premeire Pro and After effects to produce videos of products for a company. The products are cases for phones and tablets. I need to be able to freeze on a shot of the product and then draw on the still image to show the size of the case for example, possible in a blueprint style. Is there any way I could have an animation that would be like a 'live' drawing on the still image? Also I need to be able to on one case show that both sides of the cover are the same size so I wanted to do an animation of the left side being mirrored on the right side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

          Hi Raman,

One approach to the "live drawing" problem could be:

          1. Pre-plan the drawing.  Put this in gray on a layer in Photoshop.

          2. Take a screen recording, using Quicktime 7 or some other program.  Start a screen recording, then trace your drawing plan using the Brush tool in Photoshop in some color that is different from the cursor or the drawing plan, say in blue.

          3. Import the screen recording into After Effects and use Color Key effects to remove the colors of the underdrawing and the Brush cursor.  You will then have the "live drawing" which you can incorporate into your freeze-frame image using whatever method you want.

          Hope this helps!
