It would be great if someone could assist me in letting me know what I need in order to load r3d files into AE CS6 in Windows 7. Are additional Plug-Ins required? If so, where should I go in oder to get them and/or what can I do to make it work. At the same time I also would need to know if AE CS6 has red tools that allow me to select my debayer and colospace, etc...

You do not need any additional plug-ins to import and use R3D files in After Effects CS6. Same for Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder.
To change R3D settings (such as gamma, color space, etc.): right-click on the R3D file in the Project panel, choose Interpret Footage, and at the bottom of the Interpret Footage dialog click the More Options button. (In Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder, choose Source Settings instead of Interpret Footage.)
