What I am doing is this:
Writing a document that says look at page 3 for this.. and then later on it says look at page 50 for this or page 3 for the chart on this.
We are adding in a chapter here, and a taking one away there, so the page number being reference gets changed with every revision.
Is there a way to make the page number equal the location of wherever that section starts or element is? Is it possible to do with a paragraph style? or have it link to the section somehow, and update the page number text to reference that?
Or do i have to continue to go through it after every major revision and change all page number references to equal their new page?
What you want is a cross-reference. It's a built-in feature of recent versions of ID. Cross-refs are combined with the Hyperlinks panel.
Thank you! This works perfectly!
