Hi John, thanks for your response.

I am going to edit soccer matches, basic cut and render, as well as combining several video inputs for creating a split screen output.

Nothing special really, no sound significance for instance.

but my budget is quite large so I want to buy something good that will last for as many years as possible.

Do you have anything specific in mind maybe?

DV from a tape camera or DSLR from a still camera that also does video or AVCHD from a dedicated video camera... or... ???

I am going to use videos recorded from a brand new small digital video camera and stuff that i will download from the web.

So i guess stuff like MP4, AVI etc.

I looked at the links, but i see that in all of them there is a need for customization after buying.

I'm not much of a specialist so i would rather but something that will suit my needs without the need of any customization. any thought?

Otherwise, there are very few laptops that are ready for video editing

Laptop version of i7

16 Gig of ram

2 each 7200rpm hard drives, or SSD and a 7200rpm hard drive
