Which version of the program are you using and on what operating system?
What model of camcorder did your video come from and what format and resolution is it?
Do you have the latest version Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
Missing Quicktime did the trick...
I have a new Win 8 with Premiere Elements 11.0. I have now installed "Quicktime Alternative" and now Premiere accepts the .MOV flie.
I didn't expected that Quicktime is a requirement...
